Future Mom: 8 car golden rules
This is not because we are pregnant we
should no longer take the car! However, some caution is required. Medium or
long distances, advice for travel in the best possible conditions.
A preferable medical
advice
Even if your pregnancy is going well, it is
good to consult your doctor to be sure there are no cons-indications to the
trip planned. This is not mandatory, but sometimes it makes you feel more
reassured. It may also prescribe an antispasmodic or antivomitif to prevent the
discomfort of the journey. Bring your medical records, in case...
Not just any
starting period
If possible, avoid periods of major holiday
departures. Also, remember to check the weather for not finding you, depending
on the season, stuck in the snow or under a blazing sun ... In case of hot
weather, go early morning or late evening. In all cases, provide a Plan B
(hotel, family, friends ...), in the event that you should stop halfway.
Before and after,
rest!
The ideal is to anticipate his departure.
The road is quite tiring as this, do not bother to add more. The day before, so
we avoid fussing to get everything ready and try to anticipate the most of
things. Ditto when it reaches its destination. A single watchword: we relax and
we provide a day of recycling craft! Undo luggage waiting. If you travel to the
approach of the term, do not hesitate to take with you the birth of keys for
maternity. We never know!
A buckled belt
Pregnant women are not exempt from the obligation
of wearing the belt. For maximum comfort and safety, it must be placed under
the abdomen and not the stomach (in case of accident, the risks to the fetus
would be much more important).
A safe driver
For medium and long distances, it is
preferable to handing over to another person, issue of fatigue and alertness.
It may be appropriate to remind the driver not to drive abruptly to avoid
shocks (bumps ...), etc. In short, to have the most regular driving!
A comfortable
facility
You can sit at your option, the back or the
front. At the front, however, you may have a little more room to stretch your
legs ... However, be aware that at risk, the most dangerous is that instead of the
front right. Try to travel propped against the back with, if necessary, a sliding
behind the back cushion.
Always a bottle of
water
All along the road, it's important to stay
hydrated and especially if check-out during the summer. One or two bottles of
water will do the trick, and a mist of water (in case of summer heat!).
Optionally provide a snack.
Regular breaks
You do not forget to stretch your legs
about every two hours or every hour if necessary, to relax and improve
circulation. A break of fifteen minutes is usually sufficient.
